Feminist political economy

Feminist political economy focuses on how politics of everyday life effects economy by focusing on the interrelationships among female and men as they are shaped by households, markets, and states, and the transnational women’s activism. In other words, Fmeisist political economy is the study of gender production and distribution of resources and the examination of how ideology creates unequal production. In Lebanon for instance, media owners are dominated by men such as MTV, Al-Jadeed, NBN, OTV, LBC, Manar. However, most of the presenters are female. Which means that in the media female and men are clearly portrayed differently. Men are always shown as the head of authority in politics hence they also hold ownership responsibilities. While, on the other hand female are only seen in tc programs. In other words, men are always given the freedom of decision making in politics and the economic life. Even though, there are women in the Lebanese parliament they not given that importance. According to lee in the readings, production is the process of transforming one form of commodity to another ideologies. Ideology as false consciousness- socially induced miss perception of social life. Moreover according to lee, media production is a field dominated by men. For instance, in Lebanese ads that circle around economic decisions they always assume that the audience is men “badak testa2jer”.
