The major Feminist studies includes the attempts to describe and explain how gender systems work, as well as a consideration of normative or ethical issues, such as whether a society’s gender arrangements are fair.
In addition, gender intersects with inequalities of race and class claim that people often face disadvantages by multiple source of oppression in society such as religion, race, gender, stereotypes, sexual orientation and other identity markers.
Today, the portrayal of women in the media has changed in many ways. For instance, brands are less likely to stereotype their advertising. In addition, there has been a rise in campaigns related to the awareness of gender in equality based in media.
Therefore, these feminist theories and concepts had an impact on my participation in media and communication through many ways. For instance, in the beginning of the course I didn’t really understand the concept of feminism. However, after understanding the studies and concept behind the act of feminism I am able to participate in media and gender conversations in the society.
